Long term fugitive from Kendall County arrested in AZ living under a false identity

A man is in custody in Glendale, AZ after being on the run and living under a false identity for nearly thirteen years. Forty-nine-year-old Joseph Burns is facing multiple charges of home repair fraud out of Kendall County as well as additional warrants for theft out of Kane County and another home repair fraud charge out of Will County.
On September 14, 2020, at approximately 1:15 pm, Burns was arrested in the 5000 block of N. 64th Lane in Glendale, Arizona by members of the United States Marshals District of Arizona. The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and United States Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force conducted a lengthy investigation into the whereabouts of Joseph Burns. Burns was found to be living under a false identity and was subsequently located in Glendale, Arizona where he was apprehended on September 14th, 2020. Burns has been a fugitive since November 26th, 2007.
Burns is being held on a no-bond warrant out of Kendall County and is awaiting extradition back to Illinois.
