Chief Deputy Michael Peters has served with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office since 2001 when he was hired as a patrol deputy. Chief Deputy Peters spent several years working uniform patrol until he was transferred to the Investigations Division. While in the Investigations Division, Chief Deputy Peters conducted major case investigations on a wide range of criminal acts and suspicious circumstances. After working for several years as a detective, Chief Deputy Peters was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant, Deputy Commander, and then Commander of the Operations Division. He was subsequently promoted to his current rank where he oversees the operations of Corrections Division at the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
Chief Deputy Peters current rank includes the duty to provide oversight and management, along with Corrections Commander Jeanne Russo, for the deputies that serve in the Corrections Division. The wide ranging duties of this division include Jail Operations, Transports, Court Security, Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT), Sex Offender Registration, Prisoner Rape Elimination Act, and American Correctional Association. Additionally, we also have on-site Medical Services, Bible Study, Church Services, Law Libraries and Adult Educational services.
Chief Deputy Peters holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Illinois University. Chief Deputy Peters is a graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command, the Homeland Security Leadership Academy, and the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute Police Executive Role in the 21st Century (PER21C).
