Corrections Commander Nancy Velez started her law enforcement career as a Corrections Deputy with the Kendall County Sheriff's Office in 2009.  While working as a Corrections Deputy, she served as a Court Security Deputy, Prison Rape Elimination Act Coordinator, Prison Rape Act Investigator, Hostage Negotiator for the jail, Kendall County Jail Accreditation team member, and Public Information Officer. During this time, she was promoted through the ranks within the jail from Deputy to Sergeant to Administrative Sergeant to Deputy Commander and on to her current position of Commander.

Commander Velez provides oversight and leadership (along with Chief Deputy Michael Peters and Deputy Commander Van Thompson) to the Deputies and Sergeants in the Corrections Division. The Corrections Division is comprised of Jail Operations, Transports, Court Security, and the Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT).  The Corrections professionals at the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office work to maintain accreditation with the American Correctional Association and remain in compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act.
