The primary function of the Investigations Unit is to conduct follow-up investigations of reported crimes in Kendall County. These investigations consist of interviewing suspects, victims, and witnesses; analyzing information for validity, reliability, and accuracy; and compiling a comprehensive and factual case file to be presented in court.
Detectives are selected through a formal process and receive additional specialized training as a result of their assignment. Comprehensive and extensive training includes topics on death and homicides, sex crimes, arsons, computer crimes, financial crimes, and crime scene management/evidence processing. Detectives maintain active working relationships and work in collaboration with local, state and federal law enforcement professionals and are active members in the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force through the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and work with the Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force.
The goal of the Investigations Unit is to safeguard the community by apprehending criminals and providing thoroughly investigated cases to the State’s Attorney’s Office for successful prosecution. Detectives can be contacted at 630-553-7500 or email here.
