Statute/Authority:  405 ILCS 20 - Community Mental Health Act

Description: The 708 Community Mental Health Board of Kendall County exists to ensure that all residents of the county have equal access to a high quality comprehensive mental health care delivery system.

Composition: Seven (7) members and one (1) alternate member

Term: Four (4) years

Qualifications

  1. Members of the community health board shall be residents of the government unit and as nearly as possible, be representative of interested groups of the community such as local health departments, medical societies, local comprehensive health planning agencies, hospital boards, lay associations concerned with mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse, as well as the general public. 
  2. Only one member shall be a member of the governing body. 
  3. No member may be a full-time or part-time employee of the Department of Human Services or a board member, employee or any other individual receiving compensation from any facility or service operating under contract to the board.

Additional Information:

  1. Through an application process, grants are awarded to community-based, not-for-profit organizations that provide mental health-related services for county residents. While the grants cannot fund entire programs, the monies do support specific services within an organization.
