The Kendall County 708 Community Mental Health Board is the mental health authority of the county government operating under the provisions of H.B. 708, Illinois Revised statutes, also known as the Community Mental Health Act.

The Kendall County 708 Community Mental Health Board was created by a referendum approved by the voters of Kendall County. Through the passage of this referendum, a property tax levy was established to support the Community Mental Health Board’s Mission. Each year the levied funds are distributed to provide services for residents of Kendall County experiencing mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders.

Mission: The 708 Community Mental Health Board of Kendall County exists to ensure that all residents of the county have equal access to a high quality comprehensive mental health care delivery system.

The Kendall County 708 Community Mental Health Board has the following responsibilities:

To statutorily function according to (405 ILCS20/) Community Mental Health Act.
To distribute tax monies to support programs serving residents of Kendall County. Through an application process, grants are awarded to community-based, not-for profit organizations that provide mental health-related services for county residents. While the grants cannot fund entire programs, the monies do support specific services within an organization.

The members of the Kendall County 708 Community Mental Health Board, appointed by the Chairperson of the Kendall County Board, meet a minimum of four times per year to determine and execute the work of the Kendall County 708 Community Mental Health Board. All meetings are open to the public and are held at either the Kendall County Board Room or the Kendall County Health Department Conference Room.
