Open government and keeping the public informed is something the Kendall County Circuit Court Clerk strives to support. While we are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act, the official court records held by the Circuit Court Clerk are presumed to be open to any member of the public for inspection or to obtain copies at all times, during regular business hours of the Kendall County Courthouse, to the extent allowed by applicable statute, court rule or court order. [see Copley Press, Inc. v Administrative Office of the Courts, (1995), 271 Ill. App. 3d548, appeal denied, 163 Ill. 2d 551; also see Illinois Attorney General Opinion No. 99-005 (March 15, 1999)]. Be advised that Adoptions and Juvenile records are not open to the public and no information on these cases will be available.
